ESR 9
Christian Herrmann
Christian Herrmann is ESR9. Christian’s project is titled ‘Laser induced periodic surface structures of polymers’.
Background:
Christian studied Physics at TU Dortmund University and gained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. His main specialisation was in the field of elementary particle physics. He also gained some knowledge in (quantum) optics and accelerator physics.
Further, he specialised in a Photonics Master’s program at FH Münster University, department of applied sciences. He finished his master thesis “LIPSS on glass” in the department of laser materials processing. Besides the master’s program, he worked at IMPEX Hightech for six month as a physics engineer.
To expand his knowledge in LIPSS taking possible applications into consideration, he decided to apply for and join the SIMPPER_MedDev program contributing to the project “LIPSS on polymers”.
Research interests include:
– Investigation methods of the chemical and geometrical modifications of polymers
– Laser processing of biocompatible polymers, especially one’s used for medical applications
– Development of medical devices
– Investigation methods of cell growth, and anti-bacteria or anti-viral testing on (transparent) surfaces
